Picking over the memories from Part 1 of the day that ended with the Barmy Arms Carnage in Part 2 (see earlier post) I came across this in the deepest recesses of my camera.
Christ almighty - even to my neanderthal ear its an awful dirge isn't it.
Doesn't even begin to compare to the anthem in Cardiff (you'll have to go back a few more posts for that) and the sooner we bring in something more uplifting the better.
Stuff the sentiment - we need something to sing!
Jerusalem?
LofH&G?
Even the bloody Hornpipe would be better.
Hang on - thats it. If we could cobble together some words, what better way to scare the wits out of opposing teams than 80,000 plastic-union-jack-bowler-hatted pissed-up Englishmen bobbing up in down in complete unison rising to a screaming crescendo of frenzy by the end.
...oh you'll never put a better bit of butter on your knife.
No, not very patriotic.
Give me some time - I'll be back with the words...
